Damascus UMC supports this local community organization that provides assistance to individuals and families in need in upper Montgomery County with emergency food, holiday food and gifts, transportation, furniture, and emergency financial assistance.

Earth Stewards
We are an outreach ministry committed to increasing awareness about environmental preservation. Projects: reducing energy use at our church, increasing recycled materials, sponsoring nature walks, hiking trips, bicycling trips, participating in the Adopt-a-Road Program, assembling/giving away rain barrels, publishing "green tips" in the Beacon.

Habitat for Humanity
Damascus UMC sends a team to Western Maryland each summer to build homes for low income families. The team of youth (over 16 yrs old) and adults stay in local churches.

At Harwood House, volunteers are integral part of our ability to serve the community. Our volunteers sort/price donations and manage the store. All profits are donated to the DUMC and the community missions and ministries.

Spring and Fall Workdays
Volunteers work twice a year, providing building maintenance and outdoor yard/garden works around the Damascus Church Campus.

Volunteers in Mission
Volunteers in Missions (VIM) is the group within the church that coordinates several of our local missions, including annual fundraising that raises funds for missions projects and mission trip scholarships.
Upcoming VIM trip is to Wilmington NC are, October 4 -10.

Faith Provides-DUMC Community Giving
Faith provides is a collaboration f churches in the Damascus - Clarksburg area, providing emergency services to community families and encouraging efforts to empower the individual/family toward self-reliance.
Coordination is for school supplies in July/August, and gifts and food for families in need at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Refugee Resettlement
The DUMC team works with the Resettlement Welcoming Committee of Frederick. We support a refugee family with friendship, furnishing a home, helping with paperwork, schools, jobs, transportation, getting a drivers license, and learning English and more.

Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels program is administered by Aging in Place. DUMC provides volunteers to deliver meals on Mondays and Wednesdays to those who qualify for this service
