Living Christmas Tree
The Living Christmas Tree is a "must attend" event every year at DUMC!
Living Christmas Tree
Wednesday, December 28, 2011
and
Thursday, December 29, 2011
Concert 8:00 pm
Dinner 6:00 pm
The concert boldly welcomes Christ into our world and into our hearts:
Break Forth O Beauteous Heavenly Light, and usher in the morning;
O Shepherds, shrink not with afright, but hear the angel’s warning.
This child, now weak in infancy, our confidence and joy shall be,
The power of Satan breaking, our peace eternal making.
If you have or have never been to these concerts, come this year and be amazed at the overwhelming presence of Christ in the music of the Living Christmas Tree. The major work is Randoll Bass’ Christmas Ornaments and several new settings by Stephen Kalnoske are featured, including Break Forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light. The choir will be accompanied by full orchestra as they round out the program with favorite hymns and carols from the last 24 years.
Now in its 24th season, the Living Christmas Tree features carols sung by 70 voices, accompanied by full orchestra, and directed by the Rev. Walter G. Edmonds and Polly Edmonds Baldridge. Concert tickets $10 per person or $40 for family of 4 or more; dinner tickets $15 per person. Call 301-253-0022 for tickets and make the Tree part of your Christmas tradition.
