Earth Stewards

We are a caring, faithful Christian group of friends committed to educating our community and increasing community consciousness about environmental preservation. We are called to lead our church and community by our actions and deeds to serve, preserve and conserve the earth's resources. We encourage people to discover, value and celebrate nature and its restorative benefits for our minds and spirits. We recognize and affirm that even the smallest step toward conservation is acceptable in God's sight.

We have completed projects in the past that include reducing energy use at our church, increasing recycled materials, sponsoring nature walks, hiking trips, and bicycling trips, participated in the Adopt-a-Road program, assembled and given away rain barrels, and regularly publish "green tips" in the church newsletter. To get involved contact Jeff Heinbaugh, 301-253-0742.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a creative way to combine the love of knitting and/or crocheting with ministry to people in need of comfort. The shawls we make offer tangible evidence of God's love to each recipient.

This is an great opportunity to learn how to knit or crochet--the basic shawl pattern is very simple to learn. The gift of a prayer shawl can make such a difference in the life of a person who is healing, suffering, grieving, or just needs to know they are loved.

Want to know more or volunteer? Contact Cathy Heinbaugh, 301-253-0742 or .

We are expanding the prayer shawl ministry to include Prayer Squares! They are smaller and easier to make! We are happy to teach you how to make them!

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the 3rd Mondays at 12:30pm in the Annex...next meeting Monday, March 20th!
