Special Guest Speakers on Sunday, March 4th
Nan McCurdy and Miguel Mairena, our Covenant UM Missionaries in Nicaragua, are in the U.S. for several months visiting churches, and we will welcome them to the pulpit on Sunday, March 4th. On February 12th, they will be on hand for the youth's Sunday evening program.
Nan and Miguel are assigned to the Women and Community Association, San Francisco Libre, an ecumenical farm women's association. They help women, youth and children have a more abundant life with less violence and more equity. Youth in their programs recently learned to make community videos about the lives of the youth of Nicaragua and produce radio spots to educate other teenagers throughout Nicaragua. Nan and Migeul will be sharing with us a sample of this ministry.
2012 Habitat for Humanity --- Hold the Date!
DUMC will travel to Garrett County, MD, once again this summer to construct family homes with Habitat for Humanity. It is an unforgettable experience to work alongside future homeowners for one week, and then to return the following year to see children playing on the porch of a home that you helped build!
